THE LAST TAXI - New Destinations

Leo Records CD LR 853

Pat Battstone, piano; Chiara Liuzzi, voice, electronics, sound objects; Giorgia Santoro, flute, bass flute, bansuri, xiao, piccolo, voice, effects; Adolpho La Volpe, guitar, live electronics; Giacomo Mongelli, drums; Chris Rathbun, bass
Recorded June 18/19 2018 at MAST Studios, Bari, Italy.

Battstone’s concentration on creative improvisation has doubtless some roots in his studies at Berklee, his studies of Aleksandr Scriabin and those with Paul Bley, Joanne Brackeen and Marilyn Crispell.

The Last Taxi has transported him hither and yon, and should you, on listening to his many productions, imagine yourself sipping espresso at the top of Galleries Lafayette in Montpellier, then you probably are, virtually.

Now the Taxi is off to New Destinations, new sounds, new entities, with new musicians and dreamers on board, another opportunity to create, enjoy and marvel at some new facets of the Avant Garde in jazz.  Battstone is entirely at home, playing and fashioning any variety of jazz style.  Sit back and relax: you are in for a most comfortable ride, though it is also challenging.
